• User Needs Study: Study organization requirements and evaluating current available resources, applications and capabilities in order to establish a new section that supports the new organizational structure and completely new business functions. • Technology Migration: Study, plan, design, convert, and develop data sets from their existing format to the latest available technologies.
• Data Dictionaries: Build and document data dictionaries for existing or planned data bases and business functions.
• Data Update Procedures: Build and document standards & procedures for management, security, update and maintenance of data sets and applications. Our methods and recommendations are based on Information Engineering Methodology (IEM) where GIS systems to be developed will be concentrated on data rather than procedures. Therefore it is geared towards the data-driven-method. Within a consultancy project assignment, we follow a well tested practical approach to providing tried and proven results, this can be summarized in tasks as follows:
• Prepare a comprehensive list of related questionnaires targeted at each of the identified departments. Questionnaires include technical and business related questions that cover data design, storage and collection, applications, infrastructures, environment, plans and obstacles.
• Prepare data and information collection forms that will facilitate further analysis and documentation of the study document.
• Hold meetings and conducting interviews with selected and approved business and technical staff at all levels of the organization in Production, Maintenance, Inspection, Engineering, and other departments. The meetings will follow the earlier prepared and approved meeting schedule.
• Proper documentation of study findings with regard to existing status at each of the identified departments. The study will cover all topics reviewed above and will verify all the assumed status points discussed earlier. The study covers the following topics for each involved department.
